Support Groups

These Groups:

1. Are strategically located in Maryland’s jurisdictions with high child welfare caseloads
2. Hold community based contracts awarded to places to provide meeting space, a coordinator, and a child care attendant
3. Provide an opportunity for adoptive families and individuals interested in adoption to gather in an inviting yet structured and confidential setting to discuss concerns, issues and information relevant to adoption.
4. Promote and develop peer group relationships, and give families encouragement, emotional support and mentoring
5. Allow opportunity for prospective adoptive families in the home study process to converse with adoptive families, which helps with retention
6. Provide an opportunity for adoptive families to socialize and develop social networks
7. Provide an opportunity to learn about community resources and services available for children with special needs
8. Provide Pastoral Counseling, upon request
