The office of Licensing and Monitoring insures the safety and protection of children who are placed in licensed foster homes by awarding licenses to organizations and/or individuals who meet state operating requirements. This office conducts both onsite and off-site evaluations to determine compliance with state law and licensing rules. We are consistently working to improve the quality of service delivered to children in foster homes in Maryland. We investigate complaints alleging administrative rules or statute violations.
If you are interested in becoming a licensed foster or group home provider, you and your organization must meet specific criteria and will only be awarded a license to operate in the state of Maryland when awarded a contract via a competitive bid process. It is our goal to ensure that all licensed group and foster homes in the state of Maryland are safe, clean and provide the needed resources that result in the best possible outcomes for Maryland’s children.
